D Kelly Design was formed in March 1999 by Duncan Kelly who had been a partner in previous partnerships from 1987. Duncan first became self employed as a sole practitioner in 1984 and has worked in the Lochaber area ever since. As well as Duncan we have two architectural technologists and one administrative secretary. The secretaries, Emma Jane, who is Duncan’s daughter and has been working with him for 20 years and Mary , his wife has been with the company for 12 years. Rhuaraidh Kennedy is the most senior technologist and started his apprenticeship in 2005. Scott Hunter rejoined the team in 2014 after spending 3 years with D Kelly Design from 2003-2006. Lewis Simpson joined as an apprentice technologist in 2015.
We are based in Queen Anne House, 111 High Street, Fort William. Our office covers a wide geographical area and while the majority of projects are within the Lochaber the practice is also regularly involved in work in Argyll & Bute and the Outer & Inner Hebrides. We have been as far afield as Torpoint near Plymouth and have recently completed a five storey building in Bishop Auckland.
These remote projects are a result of satisfied clients who we have worked for on more than one project in different locations. We get repeat work from these clients because they have the comfort of working with a practice that they know well and can trust.
Because of the large area that we cover we have developed a good working relationship with many contractors and Local Authority Departments especially in regards to Planning and Building Warrant.
